Sen. McConnaughay recognizes Hoyleton Youth & Family Services as a "Human Trafficking Hero"

This week, Senator McConnaughay recognizes Hoyleton Youth & Family Services as her “Human Trafficking Hero” recipient. Founded in 1895, Hoyleton Youth & Family Services has grown to serve over 2,500 individuals annually through the 18 agency programs.

One of their programs that has had a large impact on youth is the Hoyleton’s anti-trafficking program. The program began in 2011 and has become well known within the Metro-East area as a resource for issues involving victims and survivors of human trafficking.

The anti-trafficking program focuses on providing prevention education to professionals, the community, and youth regarding human trafficking.

Furthermore, the staff at Hoyleton engage in various activities to raise awareness and address human trafficking including organizing a local coalition, contributing on speaker panels, providing an empowerment curriculum to youth, hosting an awareness 5K, and participating in local sting operations.

Senator McConnaughay is proud to acknowledge Hoyleton Youth & Family Services for their efforts in combatting human trafficking.
