Senator McConnaughay spotlights everyday hero Micah Wilson of St. Charles

This week, Senator McConnaughay spotlights Micah Wilson, a 13-year-old resident of St. Charles who has spent countless hours working to help children in foster care.

Micah learned about the foster care system from his best friend, Elijah, whose biological family has taken care of several foster children.

Inspired, Micah has organized fund-raisers and is now working with BMO Harris Bank to provide 2,000 journey bags for foster children transitioning to new homes (see photo below). These journey bags contain items like blankets, clothing, toothbrushes, toothpaste, combs, night lights and lip balm.

“Micah has given young people in the foster system some of the creature comforts that we sometimes tend to take for granted but more importantly, he has let them know that someone cares for them,” said Senator McConnaughay. “I would like to thank him for his hard work, community spirit, and compassion. What an amazing young man!"
