Senator McConnaughay welcomed more than 100 local women to her 3rd Annual Women’s Conference

Building on the success of her previous women’s conferences, state Senator Karen McConnaughay (R-St. Charles) welcomed nearly 120 local women to her 3rd Annual Women’s Conference on October 5.

“My goal is to bring together women from all walks of life and provide them with a forum where we can all talk about the professional challenges we often face in the workplace,” said McConnaughay. “One of my favorite aspects of the program is the thoughtful dialogue that always takes place between our panelists and the audience. Through this discussion I hope every woman learned something constructive—whether it be advice on how to achieve professional success or insights on how to better balance a busy career and an active personal life.”

The event’s keynote speaker was Christine Dudley, Director of the Illinois Film Office, who later joined a panel discussion featuring Ami Christianson, Owner of One Salon Bridal Co., Janice Christiansen, President of FlagSource, Linda Deering, President of Advocate Sherman Hospital, and Loretta Rosenmayer, Founder and Chairwoman of the Board at INTREN. The event was moderated by Kathy Balcazar, Editor of the Kane County Chronicle.

Senator McConnaughay joined Dudley and the panelists to answer questions from the audience, and share some of the successes and challenges they’ve faced in the workplace.

“Once again we welcomed a diverse audience, with women at all different stages in their careers and representing a wide range of professions. The continued engagement and growth of the event tells me that women in our community are actively seeking opportunities to grow professionally and are willing to put in the effort to facilitate positive change in their lives,” said McConnaughay. “I hope everyone who attended left feeling empowered and inspired!”
