McConnaughay spotlights BGC Youth of the Year, Korey Hughes
State Senator Karen McConnaughay (R-St. Charles) spotlights the community service efforts of Korey Hughes, a 2015 Northern Kane County Chamber Community Service Award recipient and Boys & Girls Club of Dundee Township Youth of the Year in this week’s community service spotlight edition.
Korey Hughes is a current freshman at Western Illinois University. Korey is a student-athlete on campus and is majoring in Elementary Education. Korey plans to be a teacher upon his graduation from WIU. Korey was an eleven (11) year club member with the Boys & Girls Club of Dundee Township.
As a senior at Dundee Crown High School, Korey served as the student body president, captain of the cheerleading team, member of the national honor society, student choir, and was elected to the Fox Valley Leadership Team.
Korey was awarded a $5,000 scholarship and named the 2015 Boys & Girls Club of Dundee Township Youth of the Year in March 2015. At the Illinois BGC Youth of the Year competition, Korey was a finalist and represented our community and BGCDT very well. Senator McConnaughay wishes Korey the best on his future endeavors and congratulates him on all of his noteworthy accomplishments.
