Job creation has been named as one of the top priorities of the new Rauner Administration. The Governor is already working to pull together the information he says he needs to craft a successful jobs program.
On Jan. 19, the new Governor signed Executive Order 12, which is aimed at increasing hiring opportunities for minorities and veterans by gathering information on the current status of such opportunities. The order directs labor groups, contractors, and subcontractors that do business with the state to report the number of minorities and veterans participating in any currently offered training program.
According to Governor Rauner, the order is designed “to ensure jobs and business opportunities are open to everyone, but especially those who serve our country or are underrepresented in the economy.”
